On behalf of Mat-Su Sea Hawkers, a big thank you to our key sponsors and contributors at Mat-Su Health Foundation, United Way of Mat-Su, Capital Office, Arctic Chiropractic, Menard Sports Complex, City of Wasilla, Lions Club International, Alaska Correction Officers Association, and so many others, for your annual commitment to our Mat-Su Valley youth health initiatives like NFL Play 60. Your financial and volunteer partnerships are very much appreciated. Without you, our annual youth event starring volunteers from the Seattle Seahawks could not have become the huge success that it is.
Healthy events like NFL Play 60 don’t just happen. It takes hours of planning, and tons of coordinated volunteer work. We would be remiss by not giving our founding partner, United Way of Mat-Su, special acknowledgment and thanks for making this annual event happen. Stephanie Allen and the staff at United Way of Mat-Su have been our chief collaborative partner since day one. They are instrumental every year in securing and coordinating volunteers, activities, and the healthy meal that each participant receives, each year.
I close with this challenge – when you are considering a community organization to help, please, strongly consider sponsoring and/or volunteering to help United Way of Mat-Su. They are a diverse group. They make such a positive impact in our community, and in the lives of the many people they help.
Until the next event time, keep reminding our kids of the importance to Play 60 minutes a day… and GO HAWKS!!
Thomas M. Spindler,
President, Mat-Su Sea Hawkers
