WILLOW — Searching resumed for a third day for missing Missouri angler Tuesday with still no sign of the man.
Jerry Warner, 71, of Richland, Missouri, described as an avid outdoorsman who often went on solo fishing trips, left the Willow Creek Resort on Sunday. That’s the last anyone has seen of him.
“The plan was that he was heading out for a few hours of fishing just in chest waders a rain jacket and a camouflage baseball cap,” Alaska State Trooper Spokeswoman Beth Ipsen said Tuesday. “Unfortunately, these are items that are not very visible from the air.”
Troopers have a helicopter searching the creek and the Mat-Su Borough has deployed its dive team and that team’s boats.
Volunteer searchers are also on scene with dogs and all terrain vehicles. Ipsen said those volunteer groups were actually coordinating the operation as well.
“They kind of specialize in keeping track of communications and keeping track of the different resources and troopers are the source to get the resources,” Ipsen said.
“Despite all the efforts nothing has turned up,” Ipsen said.
