BIG LAKE — A search for a missing Anchorage man expanded into the Mat-Su Borough Wednesday after his truck was found a few miles from his cabin here.

Anchorage Police Department spokeswoman Jennifer Castro said Wallace Wilkinson Dunn, 81, was reported missing July 16, after he was last seen at a soccer game near Waldon Lake on July 11.

She said Dunn is described as a white male adult, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing around 165 pounds. He is bald, but sports a gray mustache and beard.

Castro said his family reported him missing Wednesday, but they said he also might have just gone out to his cabin in Big Lake.

Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters said troopers joined the search July 17 after Dunn’s gray Ford F-150 was found parked and locked at the end of Susitna Parkway, a few miles from his cabin.

Castro said the search resumed in Big Lake Thursday morning after dogs and officers combed nearby trails with no success on Wednesday.

Peters said troopers had staged one of their helicopters at the Big Lake Airport Thursday to aid in the search.

Wasilla resident John Ward said the Dunns have been family friends for years. He said Dunn is a retired doctor who once reset the bridge of Ward’s nose after he had broken it in an accident with an axe. Ward said he is concerned for his friend’s safety.

To report information about Dunn’s whereabouts, contact police at (907) 786-8900.
