MONTANA CREEK — Anchorage Police Department issued an update Saturday to the search for an 81-year-old Anchorage man missing for about two weeks.
APD spokesperson Dani Myren said new leads indicate Wallace Wilkinson Dunn may have been seen near the Montana Creek Campground July 13 where a man matching Dunn’s description discussed plans to walk or hitchhike to the Denali Park area.
Dunn’s family reported him missing July 16 and said they saw him last at a soccer game in Anchorage July 12. The family told police he might also have traveled to his cabin near Big Lake.
Alaska State Troopers report his truck was found at the end of Susitna Parkway the afternoon of July 16, but Dunn was not with the vehicle. A search of the area using aircraft and trained canines yielded no information about Dunn’s whereabouts and was called off July 19, troopers said.
Dunn is described as a white male adult, approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing around 165 pounds. He is bald, but sports a gray mustache and beard.
Police ask that anyone with information about Dunn’s whereabouts, or who might have seen him walking or hitchhiking in the area, call (907) 786-8900.
