As a result of warmer temperatures and thawing ground conditions, seasonal weight restrictions are changing on a near daily basis.
Seasonal weight restrictions announced April 17 include:
• 50 percent axle load on core area roads from the Little Su Bridge on the Parks Highway to the Granite Creek Bridge on the Glenn Highway. Core area restrictions may also be enforced on city maintained roads in the cities of Houston, Palmer and Wasilla. Contact their Public Works Department for more information.
• No restrictions at this time in the area beyond the Little Su Bridge on the Parks Highway and beyond the Granite Creek Bridge on the Glenn Highway. But warmer weather may change this soon.
• 50 percent on all state maintained gravel roads in the Mat-Su.
• 50 percent on Buffalo Mine and Vine roads.
• 75 percent on all state-maintained paved roads in the Mat-Su.
• 85 percent, with no overloads, on the Glenn Highway from Mile 55 to Mile 118 and on the Parks Highway from Mile 44 to Mile 163.
• 100 percent, with no overloads, on the Parks Highway from Mile 37 to Mile 44 and on the Glenn Highway from Mile 0 to Mile 54.
