TOWN SQUARE ART GALLERY, Carrs mall, Wasilla; 376-0123. Holly Gittlein’s magical creations from the mind, heart and hands of local metal artist. Artist reception 2 to 5 p.m. Light refreshments served.
VALLEY WINERY AND BREWERY, 1705 N. Ranch Road on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway; 357-9463. Watercolor paintings by Dianne Boyd. Artist reception 2 to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

VAGABOND BLUES, 642 S. Alaska St., Palmer; 745-2233. “Songwriter Showcase” from 7 to 9 p.m. Songwriters of Alaska is dedicated to enhancing the musical and professional lives of Alaska songwriters. Admission $10.
SHELDON COMMUNITY ARTS HANGAR, Talkeetna; 733-7929. “Focus on Kids Art Show and Reception” is a Denali Arts Council program that promotes and educates youngsters about photography. This show will exhibit children’s photography by participants of the 2011 Art Week at Talkeetna Elementary School. Runs 5 to 7 p.m., and admission is free.
KEVIN FOSTER SHOP, Talkeetna; 733-7111. “Introduction to Blacksmithing with Kevin Foster.” Learn how a propane forge works and observe basic hammering skills. Fullering, drawing tapers, upsetting and piercing of metal will be among techniques that are demonstrated. This course, 1 to 4 p.m., will take place in Kevin’s shop and will be demonstration only (no hands-on work for students). Cost $35.
