WASILLA — The Soldotna Stars had only one power play chance during the third period, but that's all they needed.
Soldotna forward Brad Duwe scored a power play goal at the 5:38 mark of the third to give the Stars a 3-2 win over Wasilla during the semifinal round of the North Star Conference tournament at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Hockey Arena on Friday. With the win, Soldotna moves into the conference title game and will face top-seeded Palmer on Saturday at 7 p.m. The Stars also receive one of the conference's two state tourney berths.
Trent Wohlers and Jeremiah Walker scored for the Warriors in the loss, and Wasilla goalie Chris Yaskus stopped 28 shots.
