Senator Murkowski is looking for a few good summer interns

Senator Lisa Murkowski wants you to work for her! The senator is looking for graduating high school seniors interested in becoming summer interns in her office in Washington D.C.

Interns have the opportunity to learn about the U.S. Senate, work in a professional office, shadow the Senator, attend meetings and committee hearings, perform special projects, have fun, and explore Washington, D.C. Eight students will be chosen for each of the two summer sessions.

Qualifications: Senator Murkowski is looking for independent, inquisitive, and mature young Alaskans. There is no GPA threshold requirement to apply. Applicants need not be interested in political science.

Housing and transportation are coordinated by the Senator's office, but interns will be responsible for the cost. Interns will be paid a small stipend that is intended to help defray costs associated with the internship program. Housing is located at the Washington Intern Student Housing (WISH) dormitories on Capitol Hill.

There are two different internship session dates—Session 1: June 2-29, 2024; and Session Two: July 27 – August 3, 2024. Please note which session is preferred on the application.

The deadline to apply is fast approaching. Applications are due 11:59 p.m. Alaska Standard Time on March 18, 2024. It is preferred that applications be e-mailed to Angelina_Burney@murkowski.senate.gov, but may also be mailed via U.S. Mail, FedEx, or UPS. It is worth noting, however, that the Senate’s mail screening procedures are likely to delay delivery, and no applications that arrive after the deadline will be considered.
