Senior leads Moose girls to win

PALMER — The Palmer Moose have not had much opportunity to play on their home field this season. But Friday, the Palmer girls earned a win during their final home match of the season.

Senior Lauren Whitstine scored within the first 10 minutes of play to spark the Moose and lead Palmer to a 2-1 victory over Juneau-Douglas Friday at Machetanz Field.

Meganne Townsend added a goal at about the 15-minute mark for the Moose. Jordan Brooke set up the goal, knocking a ball over to Townsend, who finished.

Juneau beat the Palmer boys 3-1.

Knights blank Thunder Mountain

PALMER — Kyle Bolam used four goals to help Colony score a 5-0 nonconference win over Thunder Mountain Friday at Colony High.

Jake Spannagel also scored for CHS.

Games rescheduled

PALMER — The Colony Knights were set to host Palmer Saturday afternoon, but the weekend snowfall has pushed those matches to Monday.

Colony will now host Palmer Monday evening, with the boys playing at 4 p.m. and the girls at 6. Wasilla’s games against Nikiski scheduled for Saturday were cancelled and are not expected to be rescheduled.
