PALMER — Taylor Foster loves notching a hat trick so much, he did it twice.

The senior scored six goals to lead Palmer to an 11-1 drubbing of Lathrop during the second day of the Palmer Hockey Showdown, Friday at the MTA Events Center in Palmer.

Foster scored 18 seconds into regulation and twice within the first five minutes of play to give the Moose an early 3-0 lead. He notched a power-play goal late in Palmer’s five-goal first period. He scored again 17 seconds into the second period.

In the third, Foster rounded out his day with a pair of goals.

Jaron Ketterman also bagged a pair for Palmer. Noah Keil, David Scully and Darian Wilson also scored for the Moose. Chase Rosenberg led the Moose with four assists.

Two other Valley teams skated to ties Friday. Earlier in the day, Dimond used two goals during the final 1:57 of regulation to force a 3-3 tie with Colony. Dimond’s game-winner, a Tanner Roth tally, came with just 12 seconds left.

Colony had built a 3-1 lead in the game. The Knights got their first two goals within a 23-second span at the tail end of the second period. Kolten Ketchum scored with 29 seconds left in the second to tie the game at 1. Cooper Smith found the back of the net with only six seconds left in the middle frame to give the Knights the lead. Jake Hessigner extended that lead with another goal early in the third.

The tournament’s other tie featured Wasilla, which skated to a 4-4 draw with South Anchorage. Wasilla’s Porter Schachle scored with 9:24 left in the third to tie the score at 4. Alex Clark, Dillon Matson and Alex Engan also scored for Wasilla.

Per tournament rules, there are no overtimes. Games that are tied at the end of three regulation periods, end in a tie.

In other action, East Anchorage beat Homer 6-1.

Saturday is the final day of the tournament. Homer meets Lathrop at 9 a.m. Wasilla follows against Dimond at 10:45 a.m. Colony plays South at 12:30 p.m. Host Palmer caps the tourney against East at 2:15 p.m.
