Only a few times has the evening news brought me to tears.
The recent report about the cruelty of those cows on their way to slaughter did just that. Then, to later hear the tons of meat, not recalled for disease, but for principle reasons, were taken to the dump in Anchorage for disposal was, in my opinion, despicable.
Why, at least, could it have not been given to the zoo where those cows’ lives would have served some purpose after the atrocities they suffered before slaughter?
Shame on all the people involved.

A little late for plowing
A few days ago I was surprised to see my street being plowed.
Since the snow is almost gone and spring is in the air, I’d like to make a suggestion to Mat-Su Borough road maintenance officials. Put away the snow plows and graders and get out the sweepers. There is so much sand and dirt on our roads, and it needs to be dealt with now.
Much of the sand is in the actual driving lanes since winter lanes don’t always coincide with the actual lanes. This makes for a lot of dust being stirred up.
I’ve seen motorcyclists out riding for almost a month now and all that sand also makes for hazardous riding. So let’s start sweeping our roads clean now so we can have safer roads and cleaner air.
