Sept. 11 memorial events

• Combat Veterans Memorial Association will sponsor a “Moment of Remembrance” at the Veterans Wall of Honor at 9:11 a.m., Sunday. The first-time event also will include a “Roll Call of Honor,” at which time all of the names of fallen soldiers stationed in Alaska will be read.

• Palmer Elks Lodge, off Bogard Road at Barry’s Resort Drive, from 2 to 5 p.m. The Elks will conduct a ceremony to honor those who lost their lives in the tragedy in or around the World Trade Center or the Pentagon 10 years ago.

• Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center, 1001 S. Mack Drive, Wasilla, at 3 p.m., will have a free, public memorial ceremony that includes dessert, musical performances, a flag ceremony by the Colony High School JROTC and a speech by Brig. Gen. • Matanuska Valley Sportsmen “9/11 Tribute Shoot” is from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be shooting demonstrations with opportunities for public participation, an old-fashioned turkey shoot, door prizes, hot dogs and more.
