THEO JEROME (T.J.) KOPPENBERG

The family and friends of the late Theo Jerome (T.J.) Koppenberg, invite the public

to remember him and reminisce about good times spent together.

Family and friends will gather in the fellowship hall of the United Protestant Presbyterian Church (Church of a Thousand Trees) in downtown Palmer at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, 2006. There will be a buffet meal with plenty of seating and tables.

Mr. Koppenberg was born April 1, 1928, in Pine River, Minn., and died at his home in Anderson on Sept. 2, 2006.

He moved to Palmer in 1950 with his parents and two siblings. One of his first jobs was working on the Old Matanuska River Bridge. He also worked on construction of the first bridge across Wolverine Creek on Lazy Mountain.

He resided alternately in Palmer or Cordova for the next 44 years, where he raised a family, built his own houses and constructed much of the family's furniture, after which he resided in Cantwell and Anderson until his death.

He excelled at a number of trades. He and his father and brother built several of the loveliest log homes still to be seen in the Matanuska Valley, which were built mostly with hand tools, at which he was skilled.

He and his partner built boats in Cordova with equal skill, two of which he owned and fished commercially. The construction company owned by him and his brother built a number of still-existing subdivision roads in the Valley.

Mining was another of his ventures, for which he designed and constructed his own innovative trommel and recovery plant.

He will be warmly remembered by his children, siblings, grandchildren, large extended family and many friends. Please come and share

your memories and special photographs.
