WASILLA — Two men in their twenties face more than two dozen charges relating to sexual abuse, authorities said.
Dylan Paul, 26, and Brenhon Curry, 21, both of Wasilla, were arrested on “multiple counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the First Degree, Sexual Assault in the First Degree, Sexual Assault in the Second Degree, Sexual Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Exploitation of a Minor, and Possession of Child Pornography,” according to an Alaska State Troopers press release.
Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters referred questions back to the press release.
The press release hints at multiple years of abuse. The Alaska Bureau of Investigation’s Child Abuse Investigation Unit learned Jan. 21 of allegations against Paul dating to April 2013. An investigation into Paul led to Curry, according to the release.
Paul faces the lion’s share of the charges: one count of sexual abuse of a minor, three counts of first degree sexual assault; three counts of second-degree sexual assault; two counts of third-degree sexual assault; one count of exploiting a minor; and thirteen counts of possession of child pornography, according to court documents.
Curry faces three counts of first-degree sexual assault, according to court documents.
“Although he was 17 years old at the time of the incidents in which he was involved, Brenhon Curry was waived to adult status and indicted on multiple counts of sexual assault in the first degree,” the release reads.
Court documents weren’t immediately available. Curry and Paul were arraigned in district court 1 p.m. Saturday. They face superior court arraignment Monday at 3:30 p.m., court records show.
Troopers arrested Curry and Paul Friday after a grand jury returned an indictment against them Wednesday. Curry and Paul remained in the Mat-Su Pretrial detention facility on $50,000 bail each, plus court-appointed third-party bail requirements.
