Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Sharday Nichol Badillo, 17, died Nov. 23, 2003, due to injuries sustained in an automobile collision.
A memorial service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wasilla Assembly of God. The Colony High School Football Team will be acting as pallbearers.
Sharday was born July 25, 1986, in Anchorage. She lived in Anchorage for her first seven years then moved to Palmer where she resided until her death.
Sharday was finishing her senior year at Colony High School and Valley Pathways. She planned on attending University of Alaska Anchorage in the fall following graduation. She worked part-time at Neighborhood Video in Palmer for the last two years, she also had done some volunteer work at Valley Women's Resource Center.
She was extremely gifted and blessed with the ability to express herself through poetry. She was a published poet and looked forward to a career in journalism.
Her family wrote, "Sharday possessed a gentle loving soul that deeply touched those around her. Her spirit and energy will live on through her writings. She was such a special young lady and will be missed more than words can ever express. She will live forever in the hearts of her mom, dad, big sister and many of her friends."
She is survived by her parents Victor Badillo of Wasilla; Sherry Badillo of Palmer and her sister Brittany Badillo of Wasilla.
