Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Shirley Smith Dreith, 69, died Jan. 26, 2002, at Providence Hospital. Shirley had been in poor health, living at the Mary Conrad Center for the past eleven months.

Mrs. Dreith was born in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 17, 1932. She graduated high school in 1951 and worked for Pacific Telephone. She met her husband, Peter, in Burbank, Calif., and they married on Oct. 4,1958. They moved to Alaska in 1959 to make their new life together and farm in Wasilla.
Mrs. Dreith is survived by her sister Linda Gouker and brother William Smith, both of California.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Dreith, on Aug. 23, 1983.
