SHIRLEY YELVERTON

Chugiak resident Shirley Yelverton, 84, died Aug. 11, 2004, at Providence Extended Care Center. An October memorial service will be held at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, Ill.

Mrs. Yelverton was born March 7, 1920, in Decatur, Ill. While living in Decatur, she worked at the U.S. Army Signal Depot, Saint Mary's Hospital and General Electric.

Since 1997, she has been a resident of Palmer, and moved to Chugiak in 1999.

Mrs. Yelverton was a member of Central Christian Church in Decatur.

She loved children, babies, cats and dogs.

Her family wrote, "She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She always cared about others and showed her love with hugs."

Survivors include her son, Gary Yelverton of Las Vegas, Nev.; son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Carol Yelverton of Chugiak; grandsons, Chris and his wife, Barbra, of Chugiak, Joe of Seattle, Wash., and Nick of Chicago, and great-grandchildren, Christian and Sara of Chugiak.

She was preceded in death by Elvis Yelverton.

Arrangements were made with Evergreen Memorial Chapel, 737 E. St.
