PALMER — A sibling rivalry highlighted the junior dragster event during a holiday weekend worth of racing at Alaska Raceway Park.
Saturday, Ryan Bodenstadt and Brooke Bodenstadt finished at the head of a pack of 19 drivers in the field. Ryan Bodenstadt earned the win, hitting 74.91 miles per hour in 8.862 seconds. Brooke Bodenstadt was the runner-up, with a run of 57.24 mph in 9.109 seconds. Also on Saturday, Scott Roloff was the king of the street winner, and Matt Huettl was the king of the street bracket winner. Huettl also posted a win on Sunday, finishing first in the trophy class on the quarter-mile drag strip.
The weekend also included another race on the third-mile asphalt oval. Tim Workman won the 30-lap feature race in the late models class, while David Elliott was the top drive in the 30-lap baby grands class. Mike Thomas won the 25-lap feature race in the legends.
Racing continues this weekend, with the Diversified Tire Oval Race on Saturday. Gates open at 2 p.m. Qualifying starts at 4 p.m., and racing begins at 6.
