Adele Morgan is doing what everyone should do to celebrate a big moment -- hosting a party.
Morgan's CD, "From the Heart," is scheduled for release on Nov. 15, and she is having a CD release party on Nov. 17 at Valley Bistro in Wasilla, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
There will be free CD giveaways, and of course, some music.
"It's not really a concert, but I'm sure I'll be singing a couple of songs off the CD," Morgan said. "We're there to have to fun, and everyone is more than invited to come down and listen."
Morgan is still planning a similar event for Anchorage she said.
Throughout her musical career, Morgan has played in some unusual venues, for unusual people. "I've definitely played some weird gigs," Morgan said with a chuckle.
"I remember playing in a tiny little cabin on Alexander Lake and it was 20 below and I was wearing bunny boots and a parka and everything," she said. "I've played in a little log bingo hall in Grayling, I've sung for a day care opening, and I've sung at the Alaska Federation of Natives convention.
"I sang once for the Beta Sigma Phi, and there were people there ages 14 to 82. I was singing things from the 90s and the 1920s," she said.
Among her more "conventional" gigs are her annual singing of the national anthem at the Veterans' Wall of Honor for Veterans' Day, as well as singing the national anthem at Gov. Frank Murkowski's inauguration.
