WASILLA — Community members from all walks of life gathered at The Headless Horseman restaurant run by Sleepy Hollow Golf Course for the first Pizza and Paint Night event.
“This was so fun, it went really well,” Sleepy Hollow Golf Course Executive Assistant Allie Nadon said.
Pizza and Paint Night participants prettied up their canvases with autumn themed gnomes and mushrooms with step-by-step instructions.
Nadon said they plan to hold paint nights once a month on top of weekly craft activities. She said they’re currently using online resources to offer classes, but they’re actively seeking local artists willing to offer their expertise to lead future events.
“I think it’s a way for a lot of people to stay productive and happy during the winter time; my goal is to provide that for myself and other people,” Nadon said.
Maya Wahr said that she had fun in this laid back and welcoming environment.
“I really like the warm feeling of the building, it’s so relaxing,” Wahr said.
Wahr said that she moved to Wasilla a few years ago, and this paint night was a great way to connect with new people, especially since they were able to take breaks to talk between steps. She said that she appreciates Sleepy Hollow’s efforts in making a hub for social connections with events like these.
“I think it’s accomplishing that,” Wahr said.
