WASILLA — A small airplane crash sent one person to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center on Sunday with what Alaska State Troopers said were “non-life threatening injuries.”
According to an online trooper dispatch, authorities were notified at around 7:10 p.m. that pilot Trevor Jones, 33, of Anchorage was practicing his take-offs and landings about 50 miles north of Talkeetna in a 1957 Piper PA-22-150 when the plane had engine trouble. Jones tried to land on the side of a hill, but the plane suffered “significant damage” in the attempt. Jones was uninjured but an unidentified passenger was transported to the hospital.
The FAA and National Transportation Safety Board have been advised of the incident.
