WASILLA — Cim Smyth used a fast run on the second day of racing to surpass Dee Dee Jonrowe for the top overall time in the Aurora 50/50 held at the Aurora Dog Musher’s track in Wasilla this past weekend.
Jonrowe was the top finisher on Saturday, heading into Sunday’s 50-mile leg with a 16 second lead over Smyth. But Smyth beat Jonrowe by about 5 minutes on Sunday to claim the top spot.
Mushers Erin Reddington and Meredith Mapes both scratched. Mapes’ sled was hit by a snowmachiner and Reddington stopped to help her.
