Snow returns to the Mat-Su Borough

The old adage that snow makes for warmer temperatures will hold true as snow has made a return to the Mat-Su Borough following a days of single digit and low double digit temperatures, bring warmer temperatures with it. The snow, which began for many in the Borough during the later morning on Monday, will see continued building amounts during the next few days.

With temperatures holding in the 20s through the next few days, drivers are cautioned that the snow could lead to slick issues on the roads, particularly into the evening commute.

The snow is expected to come in waves starting Monday, and then snow showers are forecasted overnight through Wednesday morning.

As of Monday evening, storm totals will range from 3 to 6-inches through Wednesday morning, with localized heavier amounts varying from region to region. The higher elevations in the mountain passes and Hatcher Pass. As of Monday evening, there is no forecast of avalanche danger according to the Hatcher Pass Avalanche Center.

According to the National Weather Service website, as the snow continues to move eastward in the latter half of the week, single digit colder weather temperatures will return, with predicted overnight lows dipping below zero by Saturday.
