In less than two weeks this December, Don Campbell's class at Snowshoe Elementary collected over 150 pounds of canned vegetables, soup, boxed rice, and other non-perishable food.
The food was collected for the purpose of donating it to the Food Pantry at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wasilla for people in need. This project is one of several ways our class has decided to give back to the community.
Two of Mr. Campbell's students, Denis Larson and Lina Shadrach, helped weigh and deliver the food to the Food Pantry on Saturday, Dec. 20. Afterward, Mr. Campbell, and the students had lunch at The Windbreak.
Mr. Campbell's class has challenged other fifth graders in the Mat-Su School District to collect over 150 pounds of food in less than two weeks.
Denis Larson and Lina Shadrach are fifth-graders at Snowshoe Elementary.
