HOUSTON -- A softball-size rock crashed into the windshield of a woman's vehicle under a railroad overpass near Mile 56 Parks Hwy., Alaska State Troopers reported Sunday. No one was hurt and no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Janet Walters and her passenger, both from Virginia, were driving back from a visit to Denali in a 2004 Dodge Neon on Sept. 16 when the rock struck and shattered Walters' windshield, covering the inside of the vehicle with glass.
Walters and her passenger were not injured but the Neon's windshield was destroyed.
Trooper Eric Lorring said the rock first hit a school bus, bounced off the roof and then hit Walters' car. The school bus driver reported seeing four teen-agers on the railroad overpass at the time of the incident.
After throwing the rock the teens crouched down, ran to their bicycles and rode away, Lorring said.
Troopers are seeking to arrest the rock-hurlers for third-degree assault, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment. Anyone with information is asked to call Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131.
