WASILLA — Solstice Family Care is nearly ready to move into its new home.

The medical office will open its doors Aug. 12 within the iconic green building off Bogard Road, the Mat-Su Regional Medical Center Outpatient Center.

“It’s a great location here. It’s in our outpatient center. We’re close to urgent care. We’re close to lab and x-ray… It just makes things convenient,” Mark Palmer, market practice director for MSRMC, said.

Solstice Family Care is currently located down the road at the North Fork plaza. The family practice is umbrellaed under the MSRMC and offers primary care from “birth to death.” Palmer noted that one of their oldest patients was 103 years old.

The new office will be located on the left hand side of the Outpatient Center’s main entrance. Patients will be able to take care of their basic medical needs ranging from pregnancy checks and annual wellness visits to cold and flu check ups and skin tag removals.

MSRMC owns the Outpatient Center. Several practitioners and groups have cycled through the space over the years according to Palmer. He said that structurally, the building has remained the same with some cosmetic changes over the years as people come and go.

“It fluctuates… There’s always different tenants that come and go,” Palmer said.

Currently, the building contains entities like MSRMC’s urgent care center at the base of the building, Wasilla Infusion Therapy, the MSRMC’s sleep clinic, doctors working under MSRMC, and a handful of private practitioners leasing space.

Palmer said the Mat-Su Health Foundation used to take a lot of space upstairs before moving to its new building right next door, located within the ever growing medical plaza between Crusey Street and Bogard Road.

Geneva Woods was the most recent pharmacy inside the Outpatient Center, located on the right hand side of the main entrance. They have since moved. Palmer speculated that it’s only a matter of time before another pharmacy sets up there but he stressed that he was simply speculating.

“You just never know,” Palmer said.

Palmer noted there is space in the Outpatient Center available for rent for those interested. He compared it to the Meridian Medical Plaza off Seward Meridian with several officers flocking to the site, some staying while others venture onward.

“So it kind of ebbs and flows. We’ve had that over time. So we’re kind of on a rebuilding. We’re getting people back in and I think Solstice is a big part of that,” Palmer said.
