PALMER — The Colony Knights and Kodiak Bears will carry top seeds into the 2011 Southcentral Conference Baseball Championships when action starts Thursday at Hermon Brothers Field in Palmer.
Colony earned the first seed from the Southcentral Conference North Division and will face the South’s No. 4 seed, Homer, Thursday at 7 p.m. The South’s top seed, Kodiak, meets fourth-seeded Wasilla at 4 p.m.
The tournament begins with Palmer (North No. 2) meeting Kenai (South No. 3) at 10 a.m. The following game pits Soldotna (South No. 2) and Houston (North No. 3) at 1 p.m.
The single-elimination tourney continues with semifinals Friday at 4 and 7 p.m. The championship game is slated for Saturday at 1 p.m.
Winners of each semifinal match earn the conference’s two berths to the 4A state championship tournament, which starts next week at Hermon Brothers.
Colony and Kodiak advanced to state last year, but both teams were 0-2 in the tournament. The Knights are looking for their fourth straight trip to the state tourney.
