It seems like every day, week, month and year, there’s a celebration by our citizens that highlights something important. The fact we Americans have affinity to publicly recognizing advocacies and lifestyles is an important aspect of our culture.
In the world of home building, every month is important to us because we value our trade and customers. However of particular note is the month of June; the heart of the season when hammers are in full swing and trade professionals are busy building.
Across the nation, June is National Homeownership Month. This is a month of recommitment to achieving the American dream of owning a home.
President Trump reaffirmed recognition with a proclamation last month. His words ring true for all Americans:
During National Homeownership Month, we recognize the many benefits of homeownership to our families, our communities, and our Nation. For generations of Americans, owning a home has been an essential element in achieving the American Dream. Homeownership is often the foundation of security and prosperity for families and communities and an enduring symbol of American freedom. This month, we recommit to ensuring that hard-working Americans enjoy a fair chance at becoming homeowners.
The Mat-Su Homebuilders Association (MSHBA) is proud to celebrate National Homeownership Month because our members, and their employees and clients and respective families, embrace the need for commerce and a stable, safe and burgeoning community. Building and thriving in new and maintained homes is integral to this spirit.
In 2016, the U.S. Census report revealed the Mat-Su Borough surpassed the Fairbanks region as the second most populated part of Alaska after Anchorage with over 102,000 people. This statistic, and our 130+ home building member businesses, are a critical part of the productive commerce function of the state. From Palmer to Talkeetna, Willow to Wasilla, Big Lake and Houston and Meadow Lakes to KGB and Sutton, we’re building. Bigger, better, more affordable homes are the goals of our labor; safer, more cohesive neighborhoods are the results.
If you’re in the Valley and want a new home built, or have a home that needs repair or upgrades, our membership can help. Our members are properly licensed and bonded, and they carry liability insurance and worker’s compensation for their employees because compliance and safety matter to us. Our trade association’s foundation is built on communication to the public and consumer protection for customers. MSHBA encourages and promotes the latest construction research, education, technology and materials to ensure your home is quality.
June is National Homeownership Month, and the Mat-Su Homebuilders Association is proud to be a part of the celebration.
Thank a builder today, or one of our many service providers, from the electrician to the plumber to the roofer. Our membership’s diversity runs the gamut of trades, and in concert, we’re here to make sure Mat-Su residents have homes they can be proud of, just like we are proud in building them. And for those in other cities across the state, we invite and welcome you to visit Mat-Su and consider living here too. We’re open for business. We’re your neighbors.
