Summer hockey camp

The 2003 Summer Elite Hockey Camp will be held at Brett Ice Arena Aug. 11-15. The clinic, organized by Wasilla High School head coach Eric Troisi, is open to players at the mites, squirts, pee-wee, bantom and high school levels.

The five-day camp will feature instruction from Troisi and guest coach Peter Kravchuk, head coach of Governor Dummer Academy, a Division I prep hockey program.

Mites and squirts will skate from 4:15-6:15 p.m. each day, pee-wee and bantom from 6:30-8:45 p.m. each day and high school athletes from 9-10:15 p.m. each night.

The cost of the camp is $185 for mites, spuirts, bantom and pee-wee and $105 for players at the high school level.

Cost for goaltenders at all levels is $85.

Enrollment is on a first-come, first-serve basis. A $100 deposit is required to reserve your space in the clinic.

Palmer High volleyball tryouts

Palmer High School will be hosting volleyball tryouts Aug. 11-13.

Freshman and sophomores are scheduled for 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and juniors and seniors from 4 p.m. to

6 p.m.

Wasilla football practice begins

The Wasilla Warriors prep football squad starts practice on Monday, July 28. The team will practice from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Wasilla High School. Athletes are asked to bring a sack lunch.

Palmer High

football

The Palmer High football squad begins practicing on July 28.

Student-athletes that missed the registration date, can sign up for the squad on the first day of practice.

Athletes are asked to bring their sports fee and a physical.

Colony High football

The Colony Knights are hosting registration for the 2003 prep football season on Monday, July 28 from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Colony High School.

A current physical, completed school activity form and registration fee are required.

July 28 is also the first day of practice. Juniors and seniors begin at 9 a.m. Freshman and sophomores begin at 11 a.m.

Equipment will be handed out that morning.

ABC

Basketball Camp

ABC Alaska is hosting a summer basketball camp Aug. 11-23

Each week of the camp will feature five daily, two-hour sessions for athletes aged 7-17.

Each session will include shooting instruction and drills, scrimmaging and instruction emphasizing the transition game, pick and roll motion offense, teamwork, rebounding and defense.

The cost of the camp is $95 for one week of $190 for both weeks. Each camper will receive a T-shirt and a chance to win awards in contests sponsored by the clinic.

The camp is sponsored by the Wasilla High School booster club.
