Summer youth hockey
The Big Lake Hockey Association is offering a summer hockey program at the Brett Ice Arena beginning Monday, June 16.
The clinic will be run by coaching director Jamie Smith and the coaches of the Big Lake Hockey Association.
The clinics will be on a weekly basis from June 16- Aug. 6.
The cost is $80, and only the first 15 athletes per level will be accepted.

Curtis Menard II
Memorial Run
The second annual Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Run will take place June 14.
The run is open to everyone. Registration forms are available throughout the community.
There will be a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer run and walk.
All funds raised will benefit the Wasilla Rotary Club and the Children's Place.

Colony basketball clinic
Colony boys' basketball head coach Phil Engebretsen will host a basketball camp at Colony High School June 5-7.
The camp will feature former Wasilla boys' basketball coach and current Liberty University assistant coach Chuck Martin.
Camp will focus on developing the skills necessary to be successful in the game of basketball as well as provide exposure and insight for players who have the potential to play at the collegiate level.
All campers will receive a camp T-shirt along with a list of ball handling and shooting drills that will allow each player to continue to improve after leaving the Colony basketball camp.
The camp welcomes athletes in grades 3-12.

Colony girls'
basketball clinic
The Colony girls' basketball program is holding a shooting and skills camp June 9-11.
The portion of the camp for girls grades 4-7 will be 9 a.m. to noon each day and girls grades 8-12 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The emphasis will be on proper shooting form, individual moves and individual skills.

Big Lake Triathlon
The Big Lake Triathlon, a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event, will take place on Sunday, June 29, beginning with a 900-meter swim in Big Lake, followed by a 25K road bike and 5K bike path run. The event is open to individuals and teams, with total registration limited to 150 participants.
Entry fee is $40 per individual and $100 per team. The fee includes a T-shirt. The proceeds benefit Big Lake Chamber of Commerce and United Way of Mat-Su.
Entries must be postmarked by June 20. Forms are available at www.unitedwaymatsu.org and www.biglake-ak.com.

The Mat-Su Youth Football Program is hosting a general meeting June 12.
The meeting will be held at the club office, 4900 Palmer Wasilla Highway, suite 116, at 7 p.m.

Wasilla boys' basketball camp
Wasilla will host its first annual summer basketball camp.
The camp will be June 9-11 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wasilla High School The camp is specifically for athletes grades 7-12.
Campers are asked to bring a sack lunch.
This camp will feature Coach Fred Litzenberger from the University of Oregon and will be geared toward defensive and offensive fundamentals.
The cost is $90 and this includes a camp t-shirt and basketball.
