Palmer Little League registration scheduled
The Palmer Little League has scheduled its registration dates for the upcoming season.
Those interested can register Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Palmer Fred Meyer; March 14 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex; and March 21 and March 28 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the AT&T Sports Center.
MAHA hosting steak dinner and auction
The Matanuska Amateur Hockey Association is hosting a steak dinner and auction as a benefit for its peewee Tier II squad, a team that recently won an Alaska state title and is now preparing to compete at the national tournament.
The dinner and auction is scheduled for March 21 from 5-9 p.m. at the Wasilla VFW Post 9365, located off Knik-Goose Bay Road.

Spring hockey
program scheduled
Eric Troisi, a longtime local hockey coach and former collegiate player, is hosting his 17th annual spring hockey program, March 26-April 7 at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex.
Players receive 7.5 hours of ice time for a cost of $175. The cost for goalies is $95. Family discounts are also available.
The clinic is separated into three groups. The first-year squirts and younger players meet March 26-31, April 2 and April 5-7 from 6-7 p.m.
The second-year squirts and peewees meet March 26-31, April 2 and April 5-7 from 6-7 p.m.
The bantams, midget and high school players meet from March 26-31, April 2 and April 5-7 from 6-7 p.m.

Mat-Su Softball announces meeting
The Mat-Su Softball Association is hosting its annual meeting March 25 at 7 p.m. at the Wasilla Multi-Use Sports Complex.
Coaches or a team representative are encouraged to arrive before the meeting or stay after to complete the team and player registration.
Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m. and continue after the meeting.
Team and player registration will continue through May 1 for teams and July 15 for players at the Mat-Su Softball Association Office, located in the Hatcher View Business Park along the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.
There is a $500 fee for team registration and a $60 charge for player registration.

Sports center hosting spring break camp
The AT&T Sports Center is hosting a spring break basketball camp March 8-10.
The event, sponsored by NBC Camps, is intended for boys and girls from ages 8-18.
The cost is $100 for pre-registered athletes and $120 for those who register at the door.
The camp is divided into two groups. The first group, players ages 8-12, will meet March 8-9 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and March 10 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The second group, players ages 13-18, meet March 8-9 from 2-5 p.m. and March 10 from 1-3 p.m.

The sports center is also hosting a series of camps and games during the week of spring break.
March 9-13, students ages 7-13 are invited to participate in three different activities.
From 10 a.m. to noon each day, the sports center is hosting a basketball skills camp and game play.
There are dodge ball games from 1-2:30 p.m. each day.
There is also a session for court sports from 2:30-4 p.m. each day.
There is a charge of $10 for each session for sports center members and $12 per session for nonmembers.
Students can also register for the entire week for $150 for members and $18- for non members.

Miners schedule annual raffle
The Mat-Su Miners have scheduled their annual Grand Slam Raffle for April 25 at Raven Hall on the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
Doors open at 7 p.m. and the drawing begins at 8:30 p.m.
Only 350 raffle tickets will be sold. Each ticket is $100 and admits two people to the drawing. There is free food and beverages for the ticket holders. Those who purchase a raffle ticket also receive a pair of season passes, good for admission into all home games during the 2009 season.
The raffle will feature more than $15,000 worth of prizes. The first ticket drawn is worth $550, the 175th ticket drawn is worth $500, the 349th ticket drawn is worth $1,000 and the 350th ticket drawn earns one fan $10,000.
There will also be 14 tickets drawn worth $150 and two others worth $250. To purchase a raffle ticket, call 745-6401.

Mat Su Youth Football Association is asking parents to register their football players early this year.

Palmer wrestling club starts practice
The Mat-Su Matmen will begin practicing for the season on Monday at 6 p.m. at Palmer Junior Middle School.
Walk-in registration begins at 5:30 p.m. that day.
The club — which meets on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6-7:30 p.m. each week —is intended for boys and girls, ages 5 and above.
