WASILLA — Valley teams finished 3-0 and Colony earned a team title during the final day of the 2019 Lady Lynx Shootout Saturday at Dimond High School in Anchorage.
Colony beat Lathrop 44-33 in the championship game of the Lady Lynx Maroon Bracket. Wasilla and Palmer also competed in the 16-team Dimond tourney and earned wins in the fourth-place game of their respective brackets.
Wasilla scored a 50-44 victory over West Valley in the gold bracket Saturday and Palmer edged Juneau-Douglas 51-50 in the maroon bracket.
After finishing without a point in the first quarter, Colony used a 20-point second quarter to grab the win over the Malemutes. The Knights hit six three-pointers, including three courtesy of Hannah Duguid.
Duguid led Colony with 15 points. Indiya Clarke added 10.
Sheriden Green led Wasilla with 17 points during the win over the Wolfpack. Cheyenne Green added 11 and Bella Hays chipped in eight.
Abriana Busbey scored a game-high 20 during Palmer’s win over Juneau. Busbey scored half of her team’s 16 first-quarter points, and hit a trio of three-pointers. Ellyse Russell added 10.
Day 3 of Lady Lynx tourney
Colony beat South Anchorage 53-38 Friday to move into the maroon bracket title game. Tori Schwantes scored a team-high 16 for the Knights, who opened the game on an 18-6 run. Duguid and Kali Bull each hit a pair of three-pointers. Duguid added 10 points, Clarke chipped in nine and Bull finished with eight.
Wasilla and Palmer used wins Friday to move into the fourth-place games in their respective brackets.
Wasilla edged West Anchorage in the consolation semifinals of the gold bracket. Cheyenne Green scored six of her team’s eight points in the fourth quarter, and led Wasilla with 10. Harmony McSorley added nine, and Hayes finished with eight.
Palmer scored a 38-35 win over Ketchikan in the maroon consolation semifinals. Russell and Busbey scored 11 each for the Moose. Palmer allowed only 10 total points in the second half.
Day 2
Colony was the lone Valley team to score a victory on the second day of the Lynx tourney, beating Juneau-Douglas 57-40 in the maroon quarterfinals. Schwantes and Abby Kenley scored 11 points each. Bull and Duguid finished with eight each.
Lathrop beat Palmer 39-36 in the maroon quarterfinals. Busbey finished with 13. Avery Pettingill had eight.
In the gold bracket quarters, Anchorage Christian School topped Wasilla 66-35. Diondra Lawhead scored eight for Wasilla.
