PALMER — The Mat-Su Miners hit the road for the first time in 2019, and scored a 4-1 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots at Mulcahy Stadium in Anchorage Monday night.
Josh Bristyan and Justin Kirby each used run-scoring doubles in the third to help the Miners grab an early lead. Mat-Su also tacked on a pair in the ninth. Mat-Su used the win to bounce back from a pair of losses to the Anchorage Bucs during a doubleheader at Hermon Brothers Field on Saturday. Mat-Su improved to 2-3 win the win.
The Miners suffered a pair of one-run losses to the Bucs on Saturday.
Justin Kirby tied the game with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth, but Anchorage plated a run in the top of the seventh to score a 2-1 win over the Miners in the nightcap. The Miners finished with three hits in the loss.
The Mat-Su pitching staff allowed only six hits and two runs.
Earlier in the day, the Bucs edged Mat-Su 3-2. The Miners held a 2-1 lead in the third, but Anchorage added a run in each of the following two innings.
Anthony Notaro led the Miners with two hits and a run. Tanner Carlson drove in two runs.
