WASILLA — Spunky Monkey Alaska recently moved from its original location in Meadow Lakes to the plaza area off the Parks Highway near Value Village.
Darlena and Tim Fritzler are celebrating the grand reopening of their cafe with staff, and community members, and the Wasilla Chamber of Commerce with a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, March 29 at 11:30 a.m.
Spunky Monkey Alaska first opened in February of 2023. Darlena said the new space is much larger than the previous one.
“We have a lovely seating area,” Darlena said in a video showcasing the new space in downtown Wasilla.
In addition to serving coffee and a variety of espresso drinks, Spunky Monkey Alaska also carries products from an ever growing collection of local vendors. Fritzler said that she puts a lot of value in highlighting community members’ skills and craftsmanship.
"I feel like that's important because there's a lot of talent out here," Fritzler told the Frontiersman. "Our ultimate mission is to collaborate with as many local small businesses as possible in an effort to provide the very best experience."
Spunky Monkey customers have a wide variety of items to choose from when they walk into the shop. They can browse through handmade art pieces, home decor, clothing, accessories, and other unique finds.
Looking forward, Fritzler said that one of her main goals is to continue collaborating with local businesses.
