WASILLA -- Shots off the dribble, shots off the pass, midrange jumpers, layups, shots from behind the arc -- Chandice Cronk hit them all.
Cronk shot 10-for-10 from the floor and 6-6 from behind the arc en route to scoring a game-high 26 points in Wasilla's 70-35 win over Soldotna in the first round of the Region III championship tournament on Thursday.
"She's number one, I have never seen anyone shoot like that," Wasilla head coach Jeannie Hebert-Truax said.
Cronk scored her team's first eight points as Wasilla jumped out to a 13-4 lead in the first quarter. The Wasilla senior scored seven more in the second quarter as the Warriors cruised to a 33-14 halftime lead.
Every Warrior who saw action scored in the contest. Junior post Megan Stearman registered 10 points and junior guard Christine Cloud added eight points.
Brittany Howard paced the Stars with 10 points.
Colony 66, Skyview 32
The Colony girls led 24-8 after the first quarter, 42-11 at halftime and easily defeated Skyivew 66-32 in the opener of the Region III championship tournament Thursday morning.
Kristina Klapperich led a group of three Knights in double figures. Klapperich scored 14 points, Jessica Dault put in 11 and Joanna Spoth added 10.
