State Board of Education meets Oct. 28; you can attend online

The State Board of Education and Early Development will meet via video conference at 12:30 p.m., Oct. 28. The meeting will originate from the auxiliary conference room, first floor, Goldbelt Building, 801West 10th Street, Juneau.

The board will consider requests from 24 school districts seeking waivers from a requirement to budget a minimum of 70 percent of their operating expenditures for instruction.

The public is invited to comment at this meeting by audio-conference using GCI teleconferencing. Dial 1-800-315-6338 and use code 8578#. The entire meeting will be broadcast at the above number.

The public is welcome to watch the meeting via video conference at the Mat-Su Borough School District Office, 501 N. Gulkana Street, Palmer.

Comments also can be made from the local Legislative Information Office in Wasilla, 600 E. Railroad Ave. Suite 1.

In the event there are more than two hours of public comment, the board may move to amend the agenda to extend the oral hearing to accommodate those present before 12:25 p.m. who did not have an opportunity to comment. The board also reserves the right to adjourn at a later time.
