State Board of Education to meet Jan. 27

JUNEAU — The State Board of Education and Early Development will meet by video/teleconference at noon, Jan. 27. The meeting will originate from the auxiliary boardroom at the department, 801 West 10th St., Suite 200, but will be available in Palmer via video link at the Mat-Su School District, 501 North Gulkana.

People may also listen to the meeting and comment during the teleconference oral hearing via (800) 315-6338, using code 8578#.

Topics include opening a period of public comment on proposed regulations regarding teacher certification. The board will hear reports regarding required assessments, the request for proposal update for a new testing vendor, a report about the upcoming legislative session, and will be asked to approve the administration’s proposed operating and capital budgets for K-12 education. It also will be asked to approve the hire of a new division director.
