State hockey tourney: Palmer, Wasilla see seasons comes to end

WASILLA — The Palmer Moose and Wasilla Warriors have been eliminated from the 2011 First National Cup.

Palmer was forced to watch its 2010-11 season end a day early with a 3-1 loss to West Valley during the consolation semifinal round of the 2011 First National Cup state hockey championships Friday morning at the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Ice Arena in Wasilla.

Tanner Shoemaker, Max Blankenship and Matthew Wixen each scored to help the Wolfpack move into Saturday's fourth-place game. Ivan Good scored the lone goal for Palmer.

Wasilla followed with a 7-4 loss to Lathrop. Brett Keene score twice, and Chancie Hanson and Mike Edwards added scores for the Warriors. Anders Carlson netted the hat trick to lead the Malemutes.

Lathrop faces West Valley Saturday morning in the fourth-place game.
