The number of positive COVID-19 cases in Alaska has hit triple digits.
There are now 102 total cases, with 17 more added to the list Saturday, according to the Department of Health and Social Service’ latest count. DHSS reported 10 additional cases in Anchorage, three in Fairbanks, one in Eagle River, one in North Pole, one in Homer and one in Soldotna.
Of the 17, five are close contact cases and two are travel related. Ten cases remain under investigation, according to DHSS.
Six individuals who tested positive in Alaska have been hospitalized. Alaska’s first in-state COVID-19 related death was reported Friday in Anchorage.
State officials also announced the first positive cases in a long-term health facility in the state. The facility is in Fairbanks.
Of the 102 positive tests, 54 are in the Municipality of Anchorage, which also includes JBER, Eagle River, Chugiak and Girdwood. There are 23 in Fairbanks and 12 in Ketchikan.
As of Saturday night, there were just two reported cases in the Mat-Su Borough.
