Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

WASILLA — A total of 68 Mat-Su track and field athletes will travel to the 2008 ASAA Alaska State Track and Field Championships Friday and Saturday at Lathrop High School in Fairbanks. Colony High School, whose boys and girls teams each placed second at last weekend’s Region III Championships, lead the way with 24 state-qualified athletes. Colony has 12 boys and 12 girls in the meet. Palmer will bring the next-largest team, with 19 athletes (seven girls, 12 girls), while the Wasilla Warriors have 12 athletes (nine girls, three boys) in the meet. Houston has two boys and one girl in the Class 4A meet.
The Susitna Valley Rams will send 10 athletes to the Class 1-2-3A meet, which will be held simultaneously with the Class 4A event.
