A safe stolen from the Denali Steakhouse in Wasilla Tuesday morning was later found by Alaska State Troopers in Palmer. Wasilla police were called to the restaurant Tuesday at approximately 10:30 a.m. for a report of a break-in, according to a report from Wasilla police officer Rick Manrique. Entry to the business was made through the front door, reportedly during the night, and the office safe had been stolen. Less than three hours later, at 1 p.m., troopers notified WPD they had recovered a possible stolen safe near a Palmer residence. The recovered safe was identified as the one belonging to Denali Steakhouse. It had been damaged, but was unopened, according to the report.
Damage to the building was estimated at $750.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to contact the WPD at 352-5408.
