The Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District (MSBSD) Student Advisory Board / Student Government Association, informally referred to as SAB, serves as an advisory board to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough School District School Board. Monthly, student representatives from each secondary school in the district come together to discuss issues and contribute to educational decisions.

On May 15th 2024 the MSBSD Student Advisory Board held its final body meeting of the 2023-2024 school year. This meeting was a great conclusion to the year. Some schools were unable to attend due to AP testing but American Charter, Birthtree, Career Tech, Colony High, Fronteras, Houston High, Houston Middle, Mat-Su Central, Mat-Su Middle College, Palmer Junior Middle, Su-Valley Jr/Sr, Teeland Middle, Wasilla middle were in attendance and gave school reports on the final events and happenings at their schools. Some of the events included dances, AP testing, graduation ceremonies for kids from kindergarten to seniors in highschool, and end of the year celebrations. Vice President, Lily Shea then thanked the representative body for their participation in this year's geography fundraiser and making it such a success. The Student Advisory Board looks forward to hosting more educational and community events in the coming years. Representatives then broke out into committees to discuss future plans for the next school year and the steps necessary to make the upcoming year a productive and efficient one. Our current committees stand as follows: special issues, community outreach, fundraising, and the library students advisory committee. Amendments 4020 and 2300 were passed and amendment 4010 was tabled until the next body meeting. Guest speaker Michael Carson spoke about the Mat-Su Youth and Behavioral Task Force and how more youth involvement would be great and that they offer an assortment of hygiene products for those in need. The 4C’s stance and statement was approved and the meeting was adjourned at 12:24pm.
