Wasilla senior Alyssa Hutchins has been named the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman Student Athlete of the Week.
Hutchins helped the Wasilla girls basketball team win its second straight Doc Larson’s Roundball Classic with three strong games in the tournament. After the tourney, Hutchins was named the event’s most valuable player for the second straight season.
Hutchins scored 17 points during a 51-16 win over Juneau-Douglas on the first day of the tournament, added 22 points in a 68-44 victory over the Kentlake (Wash.) Falcons and chipped in 15 during a 47-38 victory over the Lake Washington (Wash.) Kangaroos.
