Wasilla High School sophomore Nikki Vanni has been named the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman Prep Student-Athlete of the Week.
The Wasilla sophomore scored two goals during the final seven minutes of regulation to lead the Warriors girls soccer team to a 3-1 win over Colony at The Dome in Anchorage last week.
The Warriors used Vanni’s scores to snap at 1-1 tie and improve to 1-0. Vanni’s first score came from about 25 yards out. She pushed her team’s lead to 3-1, striking from about 20 yards out. Vanni and the Warriors play Palmer today at The Dome.
