• Susitna Valley High School junior Kenzie Holbrook of Talkeetna completed a five-day Alaska Points of Light Youth Leadership Institute during Spring Break, March 12-16, and graduated from the Alaska PYLI in a community ceremony on March 24 at the Salvation Army Anchorage Corps Community Center. Holbrook was sponsored by the Peer Helpers Program of the Mat-Su Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Alaska in Wasilla.
• Houston High School senior Beau Frank of Willow has received a Non-Resident Merit Scholarship to attend Mayville State University in Mayville, N.D. He is the son of Jimmie and Sue Frank. He plans to enroll at Mayville State as a freshman in the fall 2012 and also plans to play football for the Comets this season.
