Students invited to apply for scholarships

MAT-SU - Crowley Maritime Corp. presented the University of Alaska Fairbanks with a $10,000 donation to fund scholarships for students in the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences.

The donation is part of a company initiative to help support Alaska communities where Crowley does business and where its employees reside.

For the second year, UAF will pick two students to receive the scholarship during the 2011-12 school year.

Crowley created this scholarship program to help young people - primarily, but not exclusively - from the rural communities it serves achieve their dreams.

Preference is given to Alaska Native students.
