Students selected for Hugh O’Brian program

MAT-SU — High school sophomores selected to attend the Alaska Hugh O’Brian Youth Alaska Leadership Seminar May 17-20 at Alaska Pacific University include several local students.

They will join more than 1,000 young leaders representing high schools throughout Alaska.

Students were selected based on demonstrated leadership and potential for continued leadership growth.

Local students selected are: Colony High School’s Rebecca Farley, daughter of Laura and David Farley; Mat-Su Career and Tech High School’s Zachary Neubauer, son of Cindy and Robert Neubauer, and Brandon Williams, son of Kami and Sailor Williams; and, Wasilla High School’s Alex Wynne, son of Rainy Bell and Jason Wynne, and McKenzy Brouillet, daughter of Karlene and Mark Brouillet.

The youth leadership program, established in 1958 by popular actor Hugh O’Brian, brings together high school sophomores with distinguished leaders in business, government, education and the professions to discuss present and future issues.

The goal is to provide youths with a stimulating forum for learning about critical issues while broadening their understanding of their leadership potential and quest for self-development.
