Susitna Valley edged Glennallen 36-35 and notched third place in the ASAA/First National Bank 3A State Basketball Championships Saturday at the Alaska Airlines in Anchorage.
The Rams were held to only five points in the third quarter, but used a 17-8 run during the final eight minutes to grab the win. Marita Ironbear-Spotts led the Rams with 14 points. Alana Barron added 13.
The Rams opened their tourney with a 39-17 win over Chevak in the quarterfinals. Emma Kehoe scored 16 to lead Su Valley. Barron earned a double-double, finishing with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Kehoe also had nine rebounds.
Metlakatla got past Su Valley 28-24 in the semifinals. Barron notched a double-double, with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
