Su Valley girls, Houston boys score wins

The Susitna Valley Rams scored a 44-20 girls basketball win over Ninilchik Saturday at Su Valley.

Alana Barron scored a dozen to lead the 2A Rams over 1A Ninilchik. Lena Spotts finished with 11, and Emma Kehoe and Cori Gossett added eight each.

Su Valley had a 14-6 second quarter run and outscored Ninilchik 10-0 in the fourth.

The Ninilchik boys beat Su Valley 72-53. CJ Goodman led the Rams with 17 points. Tristan Shelby scored 13 and Bryson Jolley added 11.

Hawks split with NikiskiThe Houston Hawks soared to a 79-51 boys basketball win over Nikiski Saturday afternoon at Houston High School.

Braden Cork scored a game-high 23 points in the victory. Cork hit three of Houston’s eight three-pointers in the win, and scored 11 of Houston’s 22 fourth-quarter points. Hayden Howard added 16, Hunter Jefferson scored 13 and Cody Wyrick chipped in 10. Wyrick and Cole Taylor added a pair of threes each.

The Nikiski girls scored a 61-41 win over the Hawks. Grace Gillespie led Houston with 14.

Grace Christian swept a pair of games at Houston Feb. 25.

The Grizzlies used a 20-13 fourth-quarter run to get past Houston 63-55 in boys action. Howard scored a game-high 30 points in the loss. He also finished with nine steals, five rebounds and four assists. Taylor added a dozen, including a pair of threes.

The Grace girls beat Houston 51-29. Gillespie led Houston with seven points.
