The Susitna Valley Rams are headed back to the state volleyball tourney.
Su Valley upset top-seeded Birchwood Christian with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-11) sweep in the Borealis Conference Championship title game.
The Rams are now in the ASAA/First National Bank 2A State Volleyball Championships, which start Thursday at Palmer High School and continues through Saturday. Su Valley opens against Dillingham, the No. 2 seed from the Southwest Conference, Thursday at 11:45 a.m.
The Rams beat Cook Inlet Academy 3-0 (25-2, 25-15, 25, 13), Unalaska 3-1 (21-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-12) and Lumen Christi 3-1 (25-23, 26-24, 23-25, 25-21) en route to the title game against Birchwood.
Tri Valley and Metlakatla are also on the top half of the eight-team bracket with Su Valley and Dillingham. Wrangell and Glennallen, and Sand Point and Birchwood meet in the other quarterfinal matches on the bottom half of the bracket.
The 2A state title match is slated for Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at PHS.
Su Valley finished third in state in 2022 and won the title in 2021.
